It's happened. In other words, your wishes were answered in the form of the new 2021 Lexus ES 250 AWD. Joining its Lexus ES siblings in the lineup, the Lexus ES 250 features a new powertrain with AWD. And it remains a perfect example of why you turned to a Lexus in the first place.

What is the Lexus ES 250?

The current 2022 Lexus ES received a redesign in 2019. Lexus ES is now available in several versions, including a regular gasoline-powered Lexus ES 350 or a hybrid Lexus ES 300h. According to several automotive critics, the Lexus ES is an absolute bargain that, if it were German, would set you back thousands more than it would today.

The latest choice was the 2021 Lexus ES 250 AWD and will continue in the model year 2022 Lexus ES 250 AWD.

Now including a trio of gas engines to power the Lexus ES, its ranks grow to include a new 2.5-liter inline four-cylinder engine that makes 203 horsepower. This is the same new package available in the Lexus ES corporate cousins, the Toyota Camry and Avalon. In the Lexus ES 250, power is sent to an all-wheel-drive system through an eight-speed automatic transmission. Another choice exists with the 3.5-liter V6 engine making 302 horsepower and 267 lb-ft of torque. An available Lexus F-Sport edition can be ordered for front and AWD versions. They don't bring additional power but include Sport S, Sport S+ and Custom drive modes for improved ride quality and driver engagement.

The high-mileage Lexus ES 300h hybrid model, with its 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine, is also available. Its gasoline engine makes 176 ponies @ 5,700 rpm and is joined by an electric motor. The hybrid package makes a total of 215 horsepower and 163 lb-ft of torque when combined with the electric motor-generator. As a result of this combo, the Lexus ES 300h is capable of some impressive fuel economy.

Lexus ES 250 Exterior

The fastback coupe roofline of the Lexus ES has become a favorite of ours. Apparently, it's a favorite of others, too, because Lexus ES seems to be the rage for all sedans made these days. Through its long and lean profile, designers have created a shape that sees the wheels going as far into the corners as possible. The look is instantly classic, finished off, of course, with the Lexus spindle grille.

Lexus ES 250 Interior

The interior of the Lexus ES 250 is a beautiful mixture of welcoming features and high-grade material that can make you feel instantly at home. There's legroom for six-footers throughout. While in the back, for instance, there are nearly 40 inches of legroom. There are high-quality leathers everywhere coupled with great color schemes for tasteful looks throughout.

Regarding the center console display, the number for today is 1-2-3. Actually, it's 12.3 as in a 12.3-inch infotainment display. The new standardized size for luxury vehicles, a 12.3-inch display is seen in everything from Mercedes to Land Rover to Lexus. Controlled by a center-mounted touchpad, it provides a rapid connection to the audio, navigation and cellular phone systems you use while driving. Apple CarPlay is also along for the ride.

In the Lexus ES 300h hybrid, the thoughtful design has placed the lithium-ion batteries below the rear seat. As a result, the trunk space of 16.7 cubic feet in the Lexus ES 250 and Lexus ES 300h is the same as found in the Lexus ES 350.

Now available in several distinct trim levels, the Lexus ES makes the scene with Base, Luxury, Ultra Luxury and F-Sport trim levels. There is a Lexus ES trim level for nearly every buyer.

Behind the wheel of the new Lexus ES 250 AWD, it will feel every bit like the Lexus ES sedans you have grown to love, except for one thing. It displays supreme grip!
