Lexus LX 570 vs Lexus GX 460: Which Lexus SUV is Right for Me?

Lexus SUVs are known for being some of the most luxurious on the road today. Whether you have five or seven passengers inside, and regardless of whether you decide to stay on the road or take a quick hop towards off-roading, you know that you will be well-cared-for inside a Lexus SUV.

In the case of the GX 460 and the larger LX 570, many customers have asked which would be better for them. That depends on your wants and needs. Do you need to carry seven or eight passengers? Tow a little or a lot? Hopefully, we can help you answer these and other questions to find the right Lexus SUV.
What are the key points of the Lexus LX 570?

Luxurious but tough: The Lexus LX 570 is one of the most luxurious SUVs on the road today. It can be ordered with two- or three-row seating and excellent build quality and reliability. The LX 570 includes high-tech features like Amazon Alexa, an available Mark Levinson audio system and more. Plus, all the power a buyer could possibly need. Read on for more information.

What are the key points of the Lexus GX 460?

Rugged, Luxurious and Capable: The Lexus GX460 is a slightly smaller version of a largish Lexus SUV. Capable of carrying seven passengers, it is a four-wheel-drive luxury SUV that can head on and off-road at a moment's notice.

Both use old school technology but are hardly antiquated. Body-on-frame designs allow for stronger towing and hauling capabilities. Both use V8 power. Both have all-wheel-drive with a two-speed transfer case. We'll get into the details below.

The Lexus LX 570

The Lexus LX 570 is a four-door crossover with a rear two-door hatch. It gets its power from a 5.7-liter V8 engine making 383 horsepower and 403 lb-ft of torque. That power goes to a permanent all-wheel-drive through a refined 8-speed automatic transmission. The LX 570 has a curb weight of 6,000 pounds and can tow up to 7,000 pounds.

The Lexus GX 460

Also, a four-door CUV with a rear hatch, the Lexus GX gets its power from the slightly-smaller 4.6-liter V8 naturally-aspirated engine making 301 horsepower at 5,500 rpm and 329 lb-ft of torque at 3,400 rpm. It, too, uses full-time all-wheel-drive and draws power from a six-speed automatic transmission. Curb weight checks in at 5,198 pounds and can tow up to 6,600 lbs.

How do they compare from the outside?

While the Lexus LX 570 is not as big as such segment "heavys" as the Suburban or Expedition, it is still no shrinking violet. In other words, it will fill up your garage nicely. The signature Lexus "spindle" grille holds sway over the rest of the vehicle and makes a statement as it approaches from the distance. Other packages exist, such as the Sport Package with an updated grille, new front bumper, lower rear valance, and forged 21-inch alloy wheels.
The Lexus GX 460 is slightly smaller but also has the "spindle" grille, as seen on most other products in the Lexus portfolio. Illuminated running boards make getting in and out a breeze.

What about the inside?

Even in their base formats, the Lexus  LX 570 and the GX 460 are well-configured with desirable features, inside and out. The interior of the LX and GX are both put together in an impeccable fashion. While the GX 460 utilizes NuLuxe simulated leather in most models with the real thing available in the Premium trim level and standard in the Luxury trim, the LX 570 is real leather and wood throughout.

The GX 460 can be configured in three rows with seating for seven. Opting for the second-row captain's chairs will increase the comfort level but cut down the accommodations to six. The LX 570 can hold a maximum of eight passengers, but we recommend that those in the third row be close friends.
There are a variety of infotainment options between the two vehicles. Everything from Amazon Alexa to Navigation to Mark Levinson audio systems, do their part to make your Lexus SUV a home away from home.

Safety features:

The Lexus LX and GX are well equipped with the latest in Lexus safety gear. These include the Lexus Safety Connect System with 24/7 emergency services. They also receive the Lexus Safety System +, including airbags, navigation and multiple driver's aides.
